When she falls...

Ok, I'm not EVEN posting this in "No Yarn for a Year" because they will ban me for life. >.< But I have been so GOOD for months, and this was a DUCK SALE!!!! There were PIRATE ducks even! I just couldn't resist. I am weak. /sob

So this all started, not this past weekend but the weekend before, when the short redhead questions me on Thursday:

RH: So, what are y'all doing this weekend?
Me: Dunno. Hanging out. Maybe working in the flower beds. Laundry. The usual. Why?
RH: Well, if you were bored, you could come to Atlanta.
Me: Hm. I could. I haven't been in awhile.
RH: There's definitely a lot of stuff to do here. Plus, the food. You know you miss the food. Your'e always complaining about how you miss the food. Royal Orchid. Pad thai. Mmmmm...
Me: Ok, you've talked me into it. We haven't seen the aquarium. And it's nice I hear.
Sata... er RH: Yes, you could do that. And Knitch is having a sale. There are ducks.
Me: Um... ducks?
RH: Yes, ducks. You pluck a duck from the tub and it will have a % off your purchase.

I was lost. I mean, seriously? Who can resist ducks?

So, on Sunday morning, while DH, Elizabeth, and my neice Jerrica stayed at the hotel and swam in the pool, I entered the Den of Iniquity and didn't leave for almost 2 hours. They had COFFEE... their own blend, made just for them. And books. And so.. much... yarn... And not just any yarn. Luxury yarn. Lots of hand-dyed, handspun, painted, twisted, yarny goodness. I mean, there was a lot of familiar yarn as well, of course, but my hands will never be the same again. They fondled. They caressed. They literally swam in a sea of softness. I just wanted to roll around in all this yarn, nak... er, well, TMI. But you get the point. Back to my transgressions.

Along with "Sensational Knitted Socks," 2 Addi-Turbo size 3 circs for socks on 2 circs, and a couple of other random small patterns, I got (and this is the god part):

These first two aren't too bad - sock yarn. After all, no one is perfect. :D

Trekking- 1skein in an Elizabeth friendly colourway (I think it's called "Spring")
Art Yarns Ultramerino - 2 skeins for socks for me (in an autumn-y colourway)

But, then we're getting sketchy :
Rowan Damask Silicia - 5 (pinks and beiges)
Cascade Pima Silk Mocha - 1 (brown)
(both for a little sweater for E)

And the piece de resistance:
Mongolian Cashmere - 1 skein in Anya's Garden.

I have never spent this much on a skein of yarn.

I have never spent this much on a scarf (which is what this skein will become).

It's rare that I spend this much on a single article of any kind of clothing.

But it was so soft, and so warm, and so light... just sitting there, knit up into a cowl. It was like soft, luxurious, warm air. *sigh*

I know. I'm rambling. Yarn does that to me.

Pictures soon. :)

Someday I will have time to post again. Maybe today. We'll see. I have much to talk about! Trip to Atlanta, 4th of July, *mumbleyarnmumble*, and spiders!

Plus I'm going into some kind of cleaning frenzy and throwing out everything I own. Except books. Why can't I force myself to get rid of books?!?!

So yesterday I decided that 6:30 would be a good time in the morning to get up, and attend a church service for the first time in at least 20 years.

I didn't burst into flames the minute I crossed the threshold, so I must be living vaguely right. :)

It was a Lutheran service, which I'd never been to before. It was vaguely familiar and kind of homey-feeling, so it must be somewhat similar to something I've been to before. I'd decided I had to visit  this particular little church almost 2 years ago while James and I were exploring the area we'd just moved into... the sign out front had the pastor's name on it - "Corky Spitler." I mean, with a name like that, how could I -not- check it out?! This was further brought home by the fact that I was mentioning this to a close friend from Atlanta who works at a Lutheran church there, and she said, "Waaaaaaaaait a minute... do you mean Kenneth Spitler?!" Apparently Corky Spitler is the son of some members that attend the church she works at. Since the whole thing seemed a tad surreal, I had to try it out.

It was nice. I liked him. I think I will go again.

The guy who sits in the cube next to me insists on spraying himself down with this nasty body spray at least 3 times a day. He's really nice. He's a little shy. And I know that if I mention it to him, he'll be really upset and embarrassed. But OMG it makes me woozy for about 15 minutes, and I have to leave for a little bit and get some fresh air. He just came back from the doctor, where he went to get treated for sinus problems. Personally, I think it's the body spray. :p

Well, last night I got a little more done than I have in awhile. J James and Elizabeth picked me up from work. Elizabeth hogged my iPod (I am definitely going to have to get her an mp3 player of some sort, I can see :p ) and James surprised us by suggesting we go to the theatre and see “Meet the Robinsons.” The show wasn’t for another 40 minutes, so we stopped at Caribou and had cookies and a drink, then went to the theatre. It was a cute movie, and E was pretty well-behaved throughout it. She got a little skittish through the scary scene, but that was understandable. Then we went home, and got E into bed. James logged into WoW, and I read “Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister” for a bit and then decided that I was tired of the nasty state of my craft shelf, so I sorted out all my ribbon/punch/other embridery stuff, put needles in their case, all the little silk ribbon and embroidery floss in their little boxes, sorted patterns, and put everything nicely on their shelves, finished sorting out my yarns and straightened up the cubbies they are all in, and then read some more ‘Confessions.” I haven’t been able to knit much in the past couple of weeks because I managed to sprain my neck, but I got a few rows done on the way to work this morning, on a little tank top I’m making for Elizabeth. I fear I will have to buy another skein of Micro-Spun, though, and post my transgressions to No Yarn for a Year. I did the last tank with 1 skein, but this top has a little more coverage. :D And, for the record, I really HATE knitting with Patons CiCi. All the little pompoms are a b* to knit with.
